LEE’S SUMMIT – We are proud to share that Elevate 114 Apartments has been recognized with the 2022 Outstanding Special Project award by Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street! Our team is grateful for the recognition, and we will continue to strive for excellence in providing the best living experience for our residents.

The Outstanding Special Project Award recognizes a special one-time project or activity that affects a downtown or neighborhood commercial district revitalization effort.

“Additional housing has been a priority of the organization for a number of years, going back to the Downtown Master Plan in 2004. Elevate 114 welcomes over 270 new housing units downtown and is the largest single one-time private investment. As the project works towards completion, the energy and life the new residents have brought to downtown has been felt from day one. The new residents have become an active and important part of our downtown community, supporting businesses, volunteering at events, and serving as downtown ambassadors to their friends and family. Elevate 114 is more than just a housing project, it is an important part of our downtown community.” Jenny Gale – Assistant Director- Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street

McCORDSVILLE – An area developer is proposing projects on sites flanking Mt. Comfort Road consisting of over 400 residences as well as commercial lots.

Carmel-based Cityscape Residential is eyeing the developments east and west of Mt. Comfort Road south of CR 600N in McCordsville.

On about 27 acres at the southwest corner of the two roads would be Broadacre – a traditional suburban apartment community behind a to-be-determined amount of commercial outlots along Mt. Comfort Road. There would be 11 apartment buildings in two- and four-story configurations with a maximum of 256 units, as well as a clubhouse and pool.

The partners of Cityscape Residential were not new to building in Lee’s Summit, but it was something old that gave the company a long-awaited downtown project. Cityscape’s restoration and adaptive use of the 1922 Methodist Church at 114 S.E. Douglas St. was honored this year by the City of Lee’s Summit Historic Preservation Commission with the 2022 Graves/Hale Historic Preservation Award. The award, established to honor the work of Lee’s Summit historians Frank Graves and Don Hale, recognizes those who “have demonstrated a commitment to interpreting, retaining and promoting the preservation and adaptive reuse of buildings, districts, structures and cultural landscapes in Lee’s Summit.” Cityscape partners have more than two decades of history in Lee’s Summit.

“One of our partners has parents and a sister here,” said Ryan Adams, vice president of Cityscape Residential for Kansas City. “We were wrapping up our third community in Lee’s Summit and had tried for six to eight years to find something downtown. “When the church property became available, we jumped on it.”

The City of Lee’s Summit Historic Preservation Commission is proud to announce the selection of Cityscape Residential for the 2022 Graves/Hale Historic Preservation Award. The award is presented annually to individuals or organizations that demonstrate a significant contribution to preserving the history of Lee’s Summit.

Cityscape Residential was selected for the restoration and adaptive reuse of the 1922 Methodist Church located at 114 SE Douglas St. in downtown Lee’s Summit. The restored building has been converted into the luxurious Elevate 114, a high-end residential apartment complex for people looking to be part of the historic downtown community.

The Historic Preservation Commission established the Graves/Hale Historic Preservation Award in 2004, to honor the work of Lee’s Summit historians, Frank Graves and Don Hale. The annual award recognizes those who have demonstrated a commitment to interpreting, retaining and promoting the preservation and adaptive reuse of buildings, districts, structures and cultural landscapes in Lee’s Summit.

The award will be presented to Cityscape Residential at the grand opening celebration of Elevate 114 Apartments on June 14.

The University of Kentucky’s Coldstream Research Campus is a premier business location in the heart of the world-famous Kentucky Bluegrass Region. Once a prominent Kentucky horse farm and home to the first Kentucky Derby winner, Aristides, Coldstream’s 735-acre campus has transitioned into a hub of innovation and creativity.

Cityscape Residential is developing the FIFTEEN51 Apartments on the Campus.

The University Economic Development Association (UEDA) recently named Coldstream as an Award of Excellence finalist in the place category. “Place” is defined as the many and diverse ways in which institutions contribute to making attractive, competitive communities—places where people want to live, create and take jobs, raise their families, participate in civic life, and age and retire.
